  • Narrandera Showground

    When property became available for selection, the early development of Narrandera Township on the Murrumbidgee River started in the 1860s. With the expansion of the railway line from Junee through Narrandera to Hay in 1882 and from Narrandera to Jerilderie in 1884, the township's early dependency on the unstable steamboat trade—which was prone to drought and flood—made way for a new period of growth and prosperity. In 1885, the Borough of Narrandera was established. Its population had increased to 2,255 by 1901.

  • Murrumbidgee Valley Nature Reserve

    In July 2010, the Murrumbidgee Valley Nature Reserve was established. It spans a 1998 hectare area. View the comprehensive documents on park and fire management.

    On the floodplains of the Murrumbidgee River is where you'll find Murrumbidgee Valley Nature Reserve. Koalas, which were reintroduced to the region in 1971 and 1974, are famous for living there. Explore Koala Reserve, which is close to Narrandera.
